Asian Slaw

This weekend Haley had a fun cookout and silent Olympics watching party. I made this slaw and it will easily feed 8, I think and was good for a potluck. This is a recipe that I took this almost entirely from Williams-Sonoma. The recipe for bars is below! This would go well with anything grilled.


2 garlic cloves, roughly chopped

1 T fresh ginger, roughly chopped

5 T unseasoned rice vinegar

5 T fish sauce

5 t sugar

1/4 c canola oil

1 T toasted sesame oil

1/2 large red bell pepper, seeded and julienne

1/4 c chopped fresh cilantro

1/2 large green cabbage, thinly sliced

1/2 red cabbage, thinly sliced

2 large carrots, peeled and julienne

3 green onions, white and light green portions, sliced

2 T sesame seeds


Pulse together the garlic, ginger, vinegar, fish sauce and sugar in a food processor. With the machine running, drizzle in the canola and sesame oils and process until smooth.

In a large bowl, combine the green and red cabbages, bell pepper, carrots, green onions, 1/4 cup cilantro and 1 T. Add the dressing and stir to combine, then top with 1 T sesame seeds.
