This is barely a recipe, but I get so many compliments when I make this bread I thought I should post it. It makes people’s eyes roll back into their heads when they eat it. The key is using fresh garlic and good bread and that’s about it.
Ingredients:
1 loaf Italian or French bread
4 T unsalted butter, softened
2 large cloves chopped garlic, or 1 large clove run through a garlic press
1/2 t dried Italian seasoning (this is purely for looks and can be eliminated)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice bread into 1″ slices and line them up like a loaf in enough aluminum foil to enclose the bread. Mix together butter, garlic and Italian seasoning and smear on one side of each piece of bread as you would butter. Close the foil package and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
